ORION Vela. Advanced mapping application for streamlined call processing

Mission-critical call takers must field calls, determine the location of wireline and wireless callers and dispatch the appropriate first responders immediately within a high-pressure environment. ORION™ Vela™ meets these needs with our most advanced mapping solution to date. Its comprehensive feature set combines superior mapping functionality and sophisticated administrative control with an intuitive, information rich Graphical User Interface (GUI). With its scalable design, ORION Vela allows for enhanced customization of its display functionality and integrates seamlessly with PlantCML’s VESTA® and Sentinel® call-taking platforms and supports Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) operations. It can also act as a stand-alone mapped Automatic Location Identification (ALI) system allowing it to be used on its own or integrated with additional applications.

ORION Vela provides multiple configurable map views, access rights based on user login, and many improved user controls for map navigation (previous/next, pan/zoom), and external accessibility (print, export). ORION Vela also provides for on-the-fly measurement unit conversion (distance and area) and includes built-in support of ESRI-compliant Shapefiles and Personal Geodatabases, which allows customers to utilize their existing ESRI tools to build and maintain map data sets.

ORION Vela makes extensive use of map data managed by a sophisticated map legend that offers enhanced rendering of layers and easy grouping of related data sets. Agencies may implement multiple layers with different projected coordinate systems as well as differing database structures. Next-generation connectivity allows incorporation of previously inaccessible data layers such as real-time weather overlays and regional datasets provided through Web Mapping Services (WMS).

ORION Vela also incorporates plug-in technology to converge multiple mapping capabilities into a single application. Integrated plug-ins such as Pictometry and CAD interfaces embed viewers and analytical tools directly into the ORION Vela map display, providing a comprehensive “at-a-glance” view of events, resources, geography, and even weather and traffic (with WMS data).
