PlantCML®’s Michael Mangini to be Recognized at E9-1-1 Institute’s 6th Annual E9-1-1 Honors Gala (Temecula, Calif., March 24, 2009) – Today members and honoraries of the E9-1-1 Institute and Congressional E9-1-1 Caucus will converge in Washington, D.C., to praise heroes and leaders in the 9-1-1 field during the 6th Annual E9-1-1 Institute Honors Gala. Among those to be recognized is Michael Mangini, Director of Solutions Engineering for industry leader PlantCML®, an EADS North America company.
“Michael is receiving this honor for a lifetime of service to public safety, both in the commercial sector and in his previous tenure in Massachusetts,” said Paul Fahey, PlantCML Director of External Affairs and Board Member of the E9-1-1 Institute. “His excellent work in providing technical solutions to complex public safety communication systems, as well as his unquestioned integrity in meeting the needs of customers and colleagues, led to his being chosen for this special award.”
Mangini, a seasoned public safety veteran and “Life Member” of the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials International (APCO), will receive the E9-1-1 Institute’s Industry Professional Award for his commitment, dedication and career achievements in advancing public safety communications. Among those accomplishments is outstanding leadership of PlantCML’s 27-member solutions engineering team, which is responsible for designing the company’s next-generation solutions, and a 23+ year career in public safety.
Prior to joining PlantCML in 2000, Mangini served as Director of Technical Services for the City of Boston, Emergency Medical Services. In this role, he was responsible for all Information Technology (IT), including radio, text paging, Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) and mobile computing/Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) system design. Mangini was also appointed as a founding member of the Massachusetts Statewide Emergency Telecommunications Board, where he served from 1989 to 2000. As the Board’s Chairman of the Technical and Operational Standards Committee, he played an instrumental role in the development and implementation of the State’s 268 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) and the establishment of the state’s first six-position mobile PSAP. Mangini is also an active member of the National Emergency Number Association (NENA), where he served as President of the Massachusetts NENA Chapter and the Massachusetts NENA Chapter Board of Officers.
“It is an honor and a privilege to have Michael on our team,” said Tim Fuller, PlantCML Chief Executive Officer. “We commend the E9-1-1 Institute’s decision to present him with the Industry Professional Award, as it exemplifies Michael’s steadfast commitment and extraordinary accomplishments in public safety.”
U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MA), a member of the Congressional E9-1-1 Caucus who represents Michael’s home district, is scheduled to attend the Awards Gala and co-present Michael’s award.
